BONUS BALL GAME BOOST FOR ASTHMA RESEARCH
Peter Hazel initiative
raises £395 for Carl Couzens Fund

The Association would like to
pass on its heartfelt thanks to one of its most enterprising members
Peter Hazel who came up with a brilliant idea to raise money for
asthma research following the tragic and untimely death of our Vice
Chairman and Secretary, Carl Couzens, who succumbed to a massive
asthma attack.
Peter introduced a website bonus
ball game in which members were given a lotto number and lodged a
small £10 stake over a number of weeks. Whichever number
corresponded with the bonus ball came up trumps. The real winner was
Percy Brown who was fortunate enough to triumph twice, a feat
previously unheard of!
With Carl such a well-loved
colleague, Peter’s initiative met with an outstanding response and
at the January meeting, he handed over a cheque for the amazing sum
of £395 which is already winging its way to the Imperial College
Trust for vital asthma research work.
Added to the donations made at
Carl’s funeral, the proceeds of the first annual golf day and a
generous donation from the Spartan South Midlands League, the total
response has now reached £3,500 … a very healthy total for a most
worthy cause.
A big thank you to Peter
and all who took part.
