COURTESY COSTS NOTHING
After match hospitality
from clubs
The
Association is saddened - and frankly embarrassed - to hear of
recent incidents in which match officials have left immediately
after games without telling clubs that they will not be partaking of
the after-match hospitality. One club was so incensed that it
actually submitted a bill for the refreshments one of its volunteer
helpers had taken the time and trouble to prepare.
This
Association’s mission is to promote the interests and welfare of
referees on one of the best Feeder Leagues in the country but cannot
condone such irresponsible and unacceptable behaviour. Everyone
appreciates that there are occasions when circumstances are such
that you have to hurry home after a game but not to tell the club in
advance or even at half-time is the
height of rudeness.
As officials, we
expect the highest standards from the clubs we visit. Surely they
must expect the same in return.
If you can’t
stay for the after-match refreshments, please make sure you let the
club know. Courtesy costs nothing. Rudeness damages all our
reputations.
