Well it seems that Season
2009-10 is finally over and I am
sure that you will agree that it
has been long and indeed arduous
at times. However, many of you
now will have enjoyed the odd
cup final or or two, some will
have been elevated to higher
levels and as the world of
refereeing decrees…we have to
move on, put disappointments to
one side, take a little break
and wait for August to come
around again.
Of course there is the small
matter of some competition
happening in South Africa, no
doubt analysis of refereeing
performances will once again
become discussion points and I’m
sure that you will no doubt be
quizzed at work over some
perceived injustice. Who would
be a referee???
As far as the Association goes
the Committee are more than
concerned about where we hold
our meetings and the comfort
therein. Whilst it is pleasing
to see so many of you at our
gatherings, we are not so happy
that so many of you had to stand
all night and quite a few people
did not get anywhere near the
refreshments, so these
shortcomings will need to be
sorted out sooner rather than
later.
My thanks to all the Committee
members, who have constantly
strived to keep us vibrant and
active and the envy of many.
To Dave Carman for his time as
the Association Secretary and
particularly his efforts in
finding our Guest Speakers. To
our President Barry Firmin who
continues to watch over us with
a careful eye. We also welcome
Liam Walshe onto the Committee
and to Pete Hazel who has
‘volunteered’ to take over the
secretarial duties.
In conclusion my thanks to the
League Officers who manage to
steer the Molten Spartan South
Midlands in the right direction
with their dedicated endeavour
and effort and finally to our
Referees Secretary Mick Ewen
who’s enthusiasm is boundless.
Enjoy the break, see you all
soon.
