DEALING WITH PLAYERS SENT OFF
Clubs reminded of
responsibilities on red cards
Mick Ewen has issued the following information to
all clubs and referees, with regard to players dismissed from the
field of play:
Because
of recent incidents after players have been dismissed from the field
of play, I would like to bring to your attention the following:-
If a
player or players are sent off during a game, once they leave the
field of play, it is the duty of the home club to ensure that the
dismissed player/players can gain access to their
respective dressing rooms.
If the
dismissed player is from the visiting side, it would be beneficial
that that player is accompanied by a member of his committee or
coaching staff.
This is
particularly essential if two opposing players are dismissed for
violent conduct.
Players
are to be reminded by club officials that if they are sent from the
field of play they cannot go to the benches and remain there under
any circumstances.
All clubs will have had this information by next
month's appointments.
