GROUND-HOPPERS
Remember
the mouse who wandered in on Burton Albion's big night out in the
Cup at Old Trafford? Well, it was cup action time again on Tuesday
night - this time in the South Midlands League Premier Division Cup
semi-final between Aylesbury Vale and St Margaretsbury - when
another couple of ground-hoppers from the animal kingdom thought
they could get in without paying. First half action was held up when
referee Jon Panconi picked up a frog and took it to the side of the
pitch, setting it free over the fence. Soon after, another
football-loving frog joined the action, only to be similarly shown
the red card.

SSMFL Referee Ben Furneaux steps in to stop
fixture abandonment

We're not too sure about the financial advice bit, but if you ask
most clubs around, Nationwide have got it spot on when it comes to
James Campbell's refereeing. Mick and the Association were most
pleased he was sporting the league badge:

We're not too sure if the referee made
the right decision at Aylesbury Vale to postpone the match - it
could have been quite entertaining. We have beach soccer, so it's
not too hard a step to imagine...
Mick thinks that Noah made the decision
for Mr Brown, but did ask to be informed when the ark launches:

Aylesbury Vale's pitch at 12:15 on 11th November 2008

"Finally the criticism directed at the Referee by the visitors was,
in the opinion of many people at the game very unfair. He controlled
the game well and made it quite clear from the start that he would
adhere to the Respect the Referee campaign and would not stand for
any dissent. As most of the 7 yellow cards were for back chat there
should be no complaint. Player dissent blights our game and the
sooner footballers follow the example of rugby players the better it
will be"
