FROM THE OFFICE
Hello all
August
2009
Welcome to a new season of
fun and frolics. For those that are not aware, the
season
starts on Saturday 8th
August and I’m presently in the middle of doing the
August appointments, which will be with you by Sunday 26th
July.
They would have been with
you a little earlier had the Ryman and Southern League
been happy with all their fixtures, but they weren’t and
had to be returned to the people that do them all and be
modified.
A couple of items for you
all to take note of: Firstly the travelling expenses
have been reduced to 28p per mile for this season.
Please ensure that you charge the correct amount and not
only that, if you are starred to travel together, then
you will do so.
To say I’m a bit naffed
off with some of you regarding this is an
understatement. Basically if you cannot travel with
whoever you are starred with, the answer is quite simple
and that is you claim a big zilcho.
All referees are to keep
the team sheets for four weeks. I do not want them sent
to me. After four weeks, you can make paper hats with
them, light your barbies with them or even use them as
toilet paper. Please remember I do not want them.
The reason you keep them
for four weeks is in case there is a complaint about a
ringer being played or suchlike.
The result sheets are
still to be sent to me. However, if you have a scanner
next to your PC, then by all means scan them across to
me; otherwise drop them in the post.
I have arranged some
meetings for you all in the month of August. They are as
follows;-
Monday 3rd
August: New Officials Meeting at Colney Heath FC.
Weds 5th
August: Level 4 Meeting at Colney Heath FC.
Mon 17th
August: General Referees Meeting at Colney Heath FC.
Weds 19th Aug:
General Referees Meeting at Crawley Green FC.
All meetings start at
7.45pm and if you haven’t told me you are attending
please do so as buffets have been arranged at all
meetings.
Any new official or level
4 referee who cannot attend their respective meeting,
please attend the general meeting(s). Also new officials
are all welcome to attend the general meeting at
whatever venue they wish. That way you can meet many of
your new colleagues on the league.
If any of you have any
topics you would like me to raise at the general
meetings, please let me know and they will go on the
list. Also at both meetings I hope to have a speaker so
at least you won’t have to worry about me whinging and
whining at you all night.
Just a couple of things to
tell you regarding the league constitution (that’s teams
in the league) for next season. In the Premier division,
Dunstable Town and Hillingdon borough were both
relegated from the Southern and Ryman leagues
respectively. Royston Town and Hatfield town have been
promoted to the Premier Division from Division One,
whilst Holmer Green and Cockfosters went the other way.
Cockfosters although they
didn’t finish in the bottom two were relegated as their
ground did not get the necessary grading from the
league.
In Division One, besides
the two teams previously mentioned, AFC Dunstable and
Hadley are both promoted from Division Two. Kings
Langley stay in the Division, as floodlights have now
been erected and are working.
AFC Dunstable are ground
sharing with Dunstable Town, whilst Sport London E
Benfica will now play their home games at Haringey
Borough. Tokyngton Manor will play their home games at
Hanwell Town.
In division Two, MK
Wanderers have re-joined the league and there were no
relegations from Division One.
I’ve been fortunate to
have a number of new officials join the league this
season and they are most welcome. I certainly hope that
all of them will enjoy their time with us and I’m sure
that you will all make them most welcome.
Finally, a brief word
about the Association. At the time of writing, may I
suggest that you get you six quid out and pay your
membership for the coming season. If not and I’m sure
you’ve seen it on this website, pay 30 quid for a three
year deal and get the portfolio that goes with it.
Well I hope that you all
enjoyed your summer break. Me I had a week in Ibiza on
my son’s stag do and then a couple of weeks later took
the war department to Halkidiki. I can assure you that
copious amounts of falling down water were consumed at
both locations. Particularly at the second one as she
was lying in the son. A complete waste if you ask me,
especially whilst all that alcohol is just waiting to be
consumed.
No doubt I’ll see you at
some time or other if not at the meetings. All the best
and enjoy.
Cheers
Mick
